At the park

Today we met some friends at the park.  It was a beautiful day and Qiuqiu had a great time with the big boys.  She's Mei Mei or Quiqiu, rarely, Eliza.

Blogging backwards

Is it possible to blog in reverse?  I am going to try.  I'd love to have a record somewhere of things that I am sure to forget one day.  Our time in China was so focused on getting through every moment of every day that there was barely time to write about about some of the finer details.   And try blogging when one of your kids is puking with 103 fever and you can barely work your VPN (the program you need to get past the firewall in China in order to blog in the first place).  Things like the feeling of walking the streets in Nanchang, the markets, driving around in vans and taxis with no shocks and no seatbelts, the smell of cigarette smoke, the daily interaction with the people -- none of this is anywhere but in my head.   So I will do a little reverse blogging.  Forgive me for doing it backwards, sweet Eliza.  This record is really for you.  Your story.  Our story of how we became a family.

Jet Lag

I almost kissed the customs agent when he said "welcome to the USA."   Yes, we're home.
This pic was taken somewhere between 2am & 4am last night when both kids were wide awake.
I gave Eliza to Jackson to hold so I could get him a pretzel -- and Eliza a bottle.
Everyone is healthy, happy, and grateful to be home.

Tonggu Girls

Here are the 4 babies adopted from the Tonggu SWI (Jiangxi provence).  Tonggu is known for it's spicy food and spicy girls (forgive the bad pic I didn't have a great angle).

Sisters

Eliza and Mei Lin spent the first 8 months of their lives together raised by the same foster mom.  They were left on the bed together at our farewell party this evening and it seemed very clear they had their own language and relationship....or maybe Eliza just loved Mei Lin's furry vest....

Brother & Sister

Everyone is finally healthy enough to spend time together.  Some of the first brother sister bonding moments....

But don't get sentimental.  I believe this ended with Jackson crying "she's pulling my hair!"
