On Sunday, stumbled upon "Youth Day" in Libbey Park where there were adorable baby sheep & goats, llamas, a heathy foods puppet show (kids apparently love a talking artichoke), and a "birds of prey rescue (they certainly weren't lovable like the baby sheep or funny tomato -- but I was impressed with the full grown owl)."
After a show at J's preschool and a full day of water play, and E's morning at J's preschool and a gym class, we took the late afternoon to check out the LACMA's exhibit "Metropolis." J loved the moving cars and trains - and pointed out the Eiffel Tower (amazing the things he learns and retains from preschool). E loved the stairs at the museum and the people all around her. I loved using my LACMA membership - which I have been doing weekly and taking tours at the museum. This week was the Art of China (thanks MG -- best present ever!) -- and now that the Stark Bar has a great lunch I feel it's my duty to attend the one place in L.A. that feels like N.Y.
A year ago today, we were lucky enough to receive pictures of Eliza from China. We had not yet met her. We had not yet held her. We loved the idea of her -- but had not yet fallen so madly, deeply in love with her funny little personality. Happy 19 month birthday, mi vida!
Lulu "It's momma's birthday soon"
Jackson "Happy birthday Momma"
Lulu "Do you want me to sleep over when Momma goes out for her birthday?"
Jackson "I want my baby sister to sleep with me because she's my mei mei"
A big thank you to everyone who helped to fund the doc "Somewhere Between" on Kickstarter.com (see my 3/21 post below)! This film will now have national distribution thanks to everyone's contributions. This truly was a community effort. I will keep everyone posted on its premiere date and video release on itunes.
My blogging absence is only due to our recent last minute invite to Kauai. It's been a beautiful, exhausting adventure and if my IPad allowed me to post images, I would. Every moment has been photo worthy. Truly paradise. I admit that I actually get anxious when bloggers I follow stop posting for days at a time and start to worry about them -- even people I barely know (which seems bizarre and unhealthy -- or maybe I am just a compassionate person in cyber world). Anyway, no worries. You'll hear from me soon.
